What do you need to design a web page?  If you know the html language all you need is a computer and a text editor.  If you don’t know html there are several different software programs that can help you.  I use Adobe’s Dreamweaver.  Dreamweaver helps create sophisticated Web sites without having to write a lot of code. Some people think that with Dreamweaver you don’t need to know any code in order to create a web page.  While this might be true, understanding what is happening behind the scenes can make the difference between a so-so web page and an outstanding one. Dreamweaver has both a design view that is a WYSIWYG, or What You See Is What You Get Editor and a code view that shows the code. There is also a split view that slows you to see both the code and the page as it actually looks. Switching between views is very helpful.  I am taking a class at Northwest Vista College and over the next few weeks I am going to write about what I am learning.  Next week I will cover making a template page that helps make all the pages on a site more consistent.
